Special Needs Children Transportation Passenger Assistant

As a Special Needs Children Transportation Passenger Assistant, your role is to assist children with special needs during their transportation to and from school and other activities. Responsibilities include helping with boarding and exiting the vehicle, securing seat belts and safety restraints, monitoring behavior and health, and providing assistance as needed throughout the trip. You will work closely with the driver to ensure a smooth and safe ride. This position requires patience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to respond effectively in case of emergencies. Prior experience with children or special needs individuals is highly desirable.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Assist in transporting special needs (SEN) or vulnerable children and adults to and from school, college, or daycare centers.
• Operate in an effective, safe, and flexible manner to support the company’s operations.
• Establish positive and professional relationships with passengers, their carers/parents, and key personnel at their destinations.
• Assist the driver in company-supplied vehicles, including cars, 8-seat people carriers, and large wheelchair-accessible vehicles.
• Be patient and empathetic with passengers, ensuring they are comfortable and occupied during journeys.

Requirements:

• Pass an enhanced criminal record check as the role involves working with children, young persons, and/or vulnerable adults.
• Have the right to work in the UK.
• Be willing to undergo first aid training and advance to specialist medical training.
